Michelle Hills has a diagnosis of ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer. Before her diagnosis, she was a health care executive with nearly 30 years of experience.

Trained as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she led a novel health care initiative with big pharma and IBM to leverage artificial intelligence with the goal of using data-driven technologies to improve patient outcomes. She has served as a patient advocate for many decades, particularly with underserved communities. In 2020, she served as the American Lung Association's Lung Force Hero, where she will have the opportunity to lobby federal Congressional representatives for additional lung cancer funding.

Michelle is an active member of LUNGevity's online patient support network and the University of Kansas Health System Oncology Patient Advisory Council. In November 2018, she founded the Living with Lung Cancer support group, which meets monthly at the Kansas University Cancer Center in Overland Park.
